Merlin's Magical Menagerie - A Lamp of Mystical Power?

Twelve blocks south-west of the southern D.W.M.A. stood a building that was much smaller on the outside.  It appeared to be a single-story three room flat to onlookers, but on the inside it was a grand estate held together by the finest magics that could be offered.  Only a truly powerful soul could dwell here, and of course, that soul happened to be the great wizard Merlin himself.

Merlin's Magical Menagerie was less a place of business and more a museum of supernatural history.  Between rows upon endless rows of artifacts of times long past locked away in glass cases or enchanted boxes sat plaques describing the origins of each individual piece in detail, though these would always pale in comparison to the main display.  Every week, Merlin would drag a particularly unique object from the mysterious 'back room' and bring it to the front of the museum as a main attraction, often standing outside and shouting to get the attention of passer's by with the object's help as a conversation piece.  This week, he had elected to choose a large golden incense lamp, tarnished from years of neglect.

"Come one, come all to Merlin's Magical Menagerie!"  He would shout, waving his cane about in exagerated, sweeping motions through the air.  "behold the amazing artifacts put on display for all to see!"

Even those who paid no attention were treated to a description of the object sitting proudly in its display case, those who gave the old wizard mind having their eyes turned to it with just a few hard taps on its surface from his cane.

"Look, children, but do not touch,"  he would warn, canetip sweeping over the sparse audience dramatically.  "for this is no ordinary lamp - this lamp posesses the power to grant wishes to whomever polishes its surface! A tempting prospect, but take heed; no matter how pure, no matter how well-worded, your wish will not be guaranteed to come to fruition as you may expect!"

Soul was walking around the shopping district when he heard the man shouting. I thought, why not? So I surrounded myself in shadows to make myself look like a kid and walked and said, "Mister, is it OK if I see that lamp?" As I said that, I took the lamp and ran off with it, thinking to myself, don't touch it, ha. Now, let's wipe the dust off this thing!

"Of course!  Look intently, look long, measure every detail of -"  Merlin's eyes practically bugged out of his head, leaning heavily over the podium with mouth agape as the glass case was shattered rather easily by the child.  He swept out with his cane's crook to try and snatch him by the neck, but to no avail - he was already running.

"Wait!"  The wizard shouted, attempting to run after him.  He tripped on his robes and fell over the podium, landing hard on the road with his cane extended and face buried both in his beard and in the cobblestone.  "Someone stop him!"

But, no one ran after the little thief.  Spry for his age, Merlin practically leapt to his feet, rushing in to the museum and flipping the sign closed.  He barreled past the only other occupant, kicking a wooden trunk open to rummage through it rather intently.

"Damn kids, taking what doesn't belong to them,"  he grumbled, eyeing what looked like a silver plate before tossing it over his shoulder uselessly.  "if he polishes that lamp, there's no telling what might happen..."

Then, realization dawned on him.  His head slowly turned, those intense baby-blue eyes resting upon the figure standing not to far from his back.  The wizard practically seemed to teleport, hands on the fellow's shoulders to promptly shake them back and forth, mouth wide open as he shouted in his face.

"YOU!"  His stare was wild-eyed and his words came out at lightning speed, their faces mere inches from touching.  "You are a Death Weapon, yes?!  Of course, I can see it in your soul!  A thief stole a mystical Genie lamp from my exterior display, you must find them before they release the creature inside!  I will pay you for your efforts, and even put a good word for you in at the Academy should you succeed!"

Meanwhile, as the Soul Feaster ferried the lamp away to places as-of-yet unknown, the thing inside began speaking wordlessly.  Its voice was dark in cander, but it drew out its words and syllables in to something of a velvety coo.

"Release me,"  those words became so prominent in the Kishin's mind.  'Release me.'  It was slowly overpowering everything else.  "Give me a mortal vessel."

I looked at Merlin.

"W-what is this?" I asked, ignoring his question. I was in almost a trance of confusion. These objects captivated my almost my full focus. The minority on the wizard.
